Beyond the Shore: A Taranta with Ancestral African Rhythms
This new composition is born from the memories of a journey through the island of Menorca.
It’s an experiment in rhythm and soul: not quite a Rumba, nor a Tango, but a fusion of a Taranta with a fast, grounded beat—a pulse that echoes ancestral African rhythms. To me, this piece is a testament to how Flamenco remains a living, breathing art form that constantly embraces new proposals.
Spanish music has always been shaped by a natural tolerance and a history of welcoming diverse cultures. These influences were never forgotten; instead, they have layered upon one another over centuries. What we call Flamencotoday is a beautiful kaleidoscope of all those voices that stayed and merged.
